Hi everyone! It’s Loz here, from Hungry Hearts Co.

If you know, you know.

If you don’t know, I’ll fill in the blanks.

I’ve been a full-time Rom-Com Writer, under the guise of a Civil Marriage Celebrant for the last five years.

It was 2018, while working as a Marketing Assistant in a windowless, box of an office, I started to think there might be more to life. I had been writing professional resumes as a side hustle when one of my clients made a proposition that would change my existence forever: could I write his wedding vows?

I squealed, with glee. “Please!” I screamed.

Doing the most, as per usual, I asked to interview both him and his fiancé. I spent an hour on the phone to them, taking notes, determined to articulate their thoughts in a voice that was undeniably their own. I poured every waking moment I had into perfecting them.

When I finally delivered both sets of vows, the couple sang my praises so high I swear windows could have broken all around town. It felt like my heart exploded out of my chest and covered all the walls.

Of course, I then became completely consumed with trying to figure out how I could do such glorious work again. I was hungry, absolutely ravenous, for more.

Imagine my delight when that couple contacted me, post wedding, and said they wished I had of been their Celebrant, because I understood them on a much deeper level than the person they had hired.

A lightbulb burst as a crash of lightening hit and my vision for Hungry Hearts Co became clear. I enrolled for my Celebrant Course that afternoon.

My first wedding was for Kayla and Dan in February, 2019. Delivering their ceremony is still one of the greatest memories of my whole entire life.

I knew, instantly, that this would be more than a hobby or a side hustle. I wanted it to be my full-time, day to day identity.

When I made this known to the professionals around me, I was advised to wait until I had a safety net of sorts, to consider, let alone attempt going full-time in my own business. There was one main character (the energy, ooft) in particular, Monty Haron of Holymatrimonty, who told me I could do anything I wanted, any time I wanted. With all his charm and sunshine radiance, he made me believe it, too.

I worked hard. Morning, noon and god-damn night. I studied business like a total psychopath and absorbed every piece of information with the desperation of a brand-new sponge. After many a high and plenty of learning curves, I quit my job in August 2019 with no net in sight. My partner in crime, best friend, biggest support and now Husband, Rhys, was able to do the same by November 2019. We were all in, baby!

AND SO THE STORY GOES…

We had a strong brand, a great strategy, an incredible network of creatives around us, amazing clients who valued our offering and plenty of bookings.

The future of our business looked bright! Until Covid came and shat all over it.

What a thrill that turned out to be!

In a sense, I’m grateful for the perspective it gave us. The importance of friends and family. The finite nature of life. The joy of spending your time doing something you truly love.

Rhys and I put our silly, little brains together and worked harder than ever before. We forged friendships with like-minded creatives who would go on to become our best friends, biggest supporters and most valued and trusted sources of inspiration. We changed and adapted and drilled down on our core values. Experience. Emotions. True stories about real people.

In 2024, I’m proud to say that I am living the life that 2018 version of myself dreamed of. I’ve developed a successful Celebrant business that turns over 6 figures a year, built a reputation for telling great stories and making people feel good and formed a network of vendors that support and lift one another every single day. I feel privileged to say I can charge what I’m worth without having to convince clients to see my value. I choose who I marry based on the initial connection I share with them. I travel all over Australia marrying people and now, for the second year in a row, I will travel to Europe to deliver Ceremonies there too.

So why Business Consulting for other Wedding Vendors?

It’s simple, really. I like to see passionate people thrive.

I started Celebrant Coaching because I couldn’t accept all the wedding enquiries I was receiving. Mostly because I was already booked, and occasionally, because I knew there was a better fit for them. I wanted to suggest alternative options who I genuinely believed would invest as much thought, energy and effort as I would have.

After getting to know so many amazing celebrants, I found the brain blowing joy that is helping others to discover their own incredible strength and seeing them shine when they share it with the world. The process was just as rewarding for me, as it was for them! So here we are, on a much larger, more in-depth scale.

While I value the creative superpowers, we all carry in our back pockets, I also understand that in business, it’s not always possible for us to do it all. Not on our own.

My goal with Savour is to help creatives articulate their unique skills and strengths, in a way that not only attracts their Ideal Clients, but convinces them, without a shadow of doubt, that they are the best and only option for the job. Beyond that, I want to help shape the experience, for the vendor and the client, ensuring that journey is the best it possibly can be, for everyone involved.

Of course, that looks and feels different for everyone. My job is to make sure you succeed in your own, unique way.

What are you waiting for?
